On Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at approximately 1:15pm Hudson Fire was dispatched for a reported brush and fence fire on Tanners Lane in the city.
On arrival Assit Chief Craig Haigh reported a confirmed fire on Tanners Lane near 3rd St.
The first arriving engine pulled two 2 inch handlines and was able to contain the fire to the side yard of a residence.
A fence was destroyed and a 50x50 area was burned in the yard which was thickly covered in vines, trees, and leaves. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from reaching the residence approximately 25 feet away.
The cause was attributed to the homeowner disposing of ashes from a woodstove onto a large ash pile in the yard that was too close to combustibles.
