The City of Hudson Fire Department and Catskill Firefighters took on some extreme training in a fully furnished, abandoned and condemned house that was slated for demolition. The training instructors placed five manikins throughout building and then collapsed the building on the mock victims. Rescue crews then used many specialized tools and techniques to stabilize the building, locate and rescue the victims. The rescue crews faced many challenges such as shoring the heavily damaged structure, clearing tons of debris, searching in void and confined spaces, extricating trapped victims and to top it off the ambient temperature was nearing 100 degrees outside. This kind of hands on training with real life scenarios and settings is very valuable to firefighters. The training was hosted by the Catskill Fire Department and was led by Lee Finelson from "Your Fire Training" a fire and rescue training agency that has been around the world training firefighters. "Your Fire Training" has worked with the Hudson Fire Department before in Live Fire Flashover Training, Elevator Rescue and sharing their knowledge and experience in many other areas.
