New York’s Volunteer Firefighters not only save lives, they also save billions in tax dollars for the state. In fact, New Yorkers save more than $3 billion each year due to the services provided by the state’s volunteer fire service according to a financial impact study released today by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY).

The Hudson Fire Department has been all volunteer since its creation in 1794, making it the oldest active volunteer fire department in New York State. We could not have made it this far with out our community's continued support. Our departments motto says it all, "Pride is our Pay".

Our volunteers are more than just firefighters. We assist with numerous community events and functions. We volunteer our time and skills to maintain our fire trucks, equipment and stations.

Did you know that in addition to our fire and rescue services our department offers many other free services to our community?
Services like our smoke detector program that can assist you in the proper placement and installation of smoke detectors, the Child Passenger Safety seat inspection program and coming soon our Knox Box program, just to name a few. All done by our dedicated volunteers who don't collect a penny for their efforts.

We are always seeking new volunteers starting at age 14 for our explorer program and 18 years old and up to be an active member.

Even if you are unable to volunteer, your continued support of our department and our efforts to provide the most professional and top quality service to our community is always appreciated.
