Dear Traffic Safety Partner:

The New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and the Hudson City Fire Department are pleased to announce the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Standardized Child Passenger Safety Technician Training Course.” The course will be held:

April 14 – 17, 2015
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hudson City Fire Department
77 North 7th Street, Hudson, NY 12534
Course ID: NY20150303245

This course is intended to provide students with a level of understanding in the challenging field of child passenger safety (CPS). Technician candidates will learn the fundamentals of child injury prevention, identifying car safety belt systems and identifying the proper child restraint for a child. Technician candidates also will learn how to choose the most appropriate seating position in a vehicle, how to properly secure a child safety seat in a vehicle and how to properly secure a child in a child seat.

This is a physically demanding class in which candidates will install car seats in several vehicles. If a candidate has limitations that may prevent him or her from completing a child restraint installation, please contact the Lead Instructor listed below to discuss your situation.

To become certified as a CPS Technician, Technician Candidates must register for this course online, pay the course fee and attend the entire course, which includes hands-on skills testing and a comprehensive written exam. Nationally certified CPS Instructors teach the course.
