Explorers Participate In FASNY's 2015 Youth Day

The young members of Hudson Fire Department Explorer Post 2108 participated in the Firemen's Association of the State of New York Youth Day 2015.

The main event was held at the Rensselaer County Training Tower. Explorers received hands on training by NYS Fire Instructors in Firefighter survival, residential search and rescue, hose line advancement, and portable pump operations.

At 2:00pm, the group then traveled to the Desmond Hotel in Colonie where they attended a training seminar presented by Firehouse Magazine Editor In Chief Timothy Sendelbach. His topics included recruitment and retention, Firefighter safety, fire attack, as well as other fire service related subjects.

Tim is a 29-year veteran of the fire and emergency services, having previously served as editor-in-chief for FireRescue Magazine and Firefighternation.com. He is past president of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI), was Assistant Fire Chief with the North Las Vegas, Nev., FD, Chief of Training at Savannah, Ga FD, Assistant Fire Chief for Missouri City, Texas, Fire & Rescue Services. He has a master’s degree in leadership , bachelor’s degrees in fire administration and arson, and an associate’s degree in emergency medical care.

The Hudson Fire Department is proud to announce it will host the 8th annual FASNY Youth Day at the Hudson Fire Department Central Station in August of 2016.

Explorer Post 2108 was formed in 1979 and is currently accepting applications for youth ages 14-17 years old.
