The Hudson Department of Fire's 164th Annual Inspection & Parade will be held this year on September 27th and 28th. This event has been held every year since the first parade was held on October 10th, 1856. This year the 225th anniversary of New York State's oldest active volunteer fire companies, J. W. Edmonds Hose Company No. 1 and H. W. Rogers Hose Company No. 2, will be celebrated.

The Inspection of the apparatus and firefighting equipment of Hudson's all volunteer fire department will begin at 6PM on Friday September 27th at the J. W. Hoysradt Hose Company, No. 8 firehouse at 515 Warren Street. The inspection will be done by City of Hudson officials and the Department of Fire's three Chiefs. Following the inspection of the engine and equipment at the Hoysradt Hose, the city officials and chiefs will proceed to the Hudson Central Station at 77 North 7th Street to inspect the engine, rescue engine, tower ladder, water rescue and other apparatus assigned there.

Following the inspection, a memorial service will be held at 7:30PM at the Central Station to honor Hudson firefighters who have passed since last year’s Inspection & Parade.

The public is invited to attend both the inspection and the memorial service.

The 163rd Annual Inspection Parade will be held on the afternoon of Saturday, September 28th. The parade will line up on North 7th and State Streets beginning at 1PM. The parade will step off at 2PM.

The parade will start at the corner of State and Green Street. It will then proceed west on Green Street to Columbia Street, over Park Place to Warren Street and down Warren Street to Front Street where the parade will disband.

Following the parade refreshments will be provided to parade participants and their families at the Central Station. Winners of the various parade trophies will be announced at the Central Station at 5PM.

The Chair of this year’s Inspection & Parade is Past Chief of the City of Hudson Department of Fire James “Buddy” Schermerhorn, Jr.

If any fire company or department has not received an invitation to the parade, a parade application is attached.

If there are any questions or concerns about the Inspection & Parade, feel free to contact Chief Schermerhorn at (518)-929-1974.
