At 1:37am today Tower 32-55, Car 1-Chief Shawn Hoffman, and Car 3-Assistant Chief Michael McCrady Jr responded mutual aid to 251 County Route 16 in the Town of Claverack for a structure fire.

Shortly after these units arrived, Claverack Command, Chief Brennan Keeler, requested additional manpower from our department. Engine 30-25 and Utility 17-71 responded.

Truck 32 was assigned to ventilate the roof as well as assist with fire attack. The Engine and Utility were immediately put to work assisting with fire attack and opening up the buildings plaster and lathe walls and ceilings to extinguish hidden pockets of fire.

Heavy fire damage to the first and second floors, as well as the attic required extensive overhaul to ensure the fire was completely out.

An aggressive interior attack by the initial crews from Claverack Fire District prevented extension beyond the already well involved left side units of the building.

While our units operated at this scene the Catskill Fire Company, Inc. stood by at City of Hudson Fire Department Central Station along with an Engine from the Stottville Fire Department to answer any calls in the city.

Also on scene were units from the Churchtown, Philmont, Mellenville, Greenport, Livingston and Taghkanic Fire Departments. A tanker shuttle was utilized as the are no hydrants or readily accessible water sources in this area of Claverack.
