Our department is in need of volunteers!

Just a little about us.

The City of Hudson Department of Fire is the oldest active volunteer fire department in New York State. Organized in 1794 with the chartering of J. W. Edmonds Hose Company #1; our department has provided uninterrupted protection to the residents and visitors of our fine city ever since.

Besides fire protection, our department specializes in Auto Extrication and operates a full-service Water Operations Team. Our Dive Team responds year-round to warm, cold, and ice water incidents. Our Marine Unit covers the Hudson River and is part of the U.S. Coast Guard Hudson River Task Force.

You can determine your own level of participation. Duties ranging from Interior Firefighting, Exterior Firefighting Support, Rescue Diving, maintaining equipment, or directing traffic at incident scenes are just a few of your options.

If you are 17 years old or older, please visit the Recruitment link on our website https://www.hudsonfire.com/content/firefighters to download an application. You can also call our Recruitment Line at 518-828-3009 Ext 5

Once you complete your application, you can drop it off at the City Clerk's Office or stop by one of our stations.

All required New York State training is free, all you need to provide is your time.

We have a diverse team of members who take pride in providing quality service to our community. Feel free to stop by and check us out.
